From Spiritually Scattered to Deeply Rooted
For a long time, my life looked complete on the outside.
I was a busy entrepreneur, a single mom, and someone who had built a career I was proud of. On paper, I was managing it all. BUT I was still walking into Monday feeling like Sunday never happened.
In no way, shape, or form did I have the perfect prayer life.
The prayer I meant to meditate on? Forgotten before I even made it into the office on Monday. The sermon that moved me to tears on Sunday morning? Gone by Tuesday afternoon.
Between managing a business and raising my son, it became clear: I wasn't showing up for my soul.
I had random, scribbled notes falling out of my Bible and dozens of half-finished thoughts scattered across the Notes app on my phone. On some days, my quiet time wasn't sitting at a pristine desk for an hour—it consisted entirely of watching a sermon on YouTube while getting ready or sitting in my car, listening to my pastor, Pastor Steven Chandler of Union Church, or Dr. Dharius Daniels of Change Church.
I had the desire to stay grounded in those messages. I needed somewhere to put it all, but I couldn't find a journal or a system that felt right.
So, I created Sunday Soul Notes®.
When Accolades Aren't Enough
If you looked at my resume, you would see decades of hard work and milestones. I graduated high school at 16, earned my degree with honors from Howard University, and spent over 20 years building businesses across branding, graphic design, life coaching, and content creation.
I helped launch BET.com, worked alongside multimillion-dollar CEOs and passionate side-hustle entrepreneurs, and had my work featured in The Washington Post, NBC, and New York Daily News. As a certified Integrative Life Coach, I even wrote Life Been Lifing, Don't Be Distracted from Your Purpose for women who know God has more for them but aren't quite sure how to get there.
But none of that matters on the days when life is heavy and you can't find your footing.
And trust me, I've had plenty of those days.
What I know for sure is that when I started treating my spiritual life with the same intention I gave everything else, things shifted.
That is what I want for you.

The Shift: Moving From Scattered to Structured
When life gets busy, we often assume our spiritual inconsistency comes down to a lack of willpower or a lack of discipline. We tell ourselves that if we were just "better Christians," we would pray longer and remember every sermon.
The truth is much simpler: Structure does not restrict your faith—it protects it.
Organizing my quiet time routine meant creating a framework flexible enough for real life. Whether I had an hour at my desk with an open Bible or 15 minutes taking notes while tuning into a message from Dr. Dharius Daniels on YouTube, having a clear home for my spiritual notes eliminated decision fatigue entirely.
Here is the simple 4-step framework that brought peace back to my mornings:
THE 4-STEP FRAMEWORK
- PAUSE & PREPARE — Settle the noise and posture your heart.
- MEDITATE & REFLECT — Sit deeply with scripture or sermon notes.
- ANCHOR IN GRATITUDE — Shift your heart into thanksgiving daily.
- ALIGN IN PRAYER — Organize requests and pray from the heart.
Step 1: Pause & Prepare (Settling the Noise)
Before diving into your day, take two minutes to bridge the gap between world noise and spiritual stillness. Take a deep breath, put your phone on "Do Not Disturb," and invite God into your morning space.
Step 2: Meditate & Reflect (Quality Over Speed)
You do not need to read an entire Bible chapter or digest a brand-new study every day. Sometimes, sitting with a single verse for three days, a week, or an entire season is exactly what your soul needs. When you catch a life-changing takeaway from a sermon, write it down so it doesn't disappear by Tuesday.
Step 3: Anchor in Gratitude & Daily Action
Before speaking your requests, ground your heart in thanksgiving. Writing down 1–3 specific moments of gratitude shifts your mindset from what is overwhelming you to how God is actively sustaining you.
Step 4: Intentional Prayer & Heart Alignment
Organize your prayer requests so you aren't just repeating a mental loop of anxieties. Move through adoration, confession, specific petitions, and quiet listening. Writing your prayers creates a lasting record of God's faithfulness over time.
